Sharper Image Hair Design always stays up-to-date with the latest hair styles and trends. We have transformed our salon in Red Deer to reflect our modern and professional, yet friendly and down-to-earth reputation. Our owner, Jennifer Sharpe, has over 14 years’ experience in the field and is always looking to enhance her skill sets.

We keep a great supply of high-quality hair care products that are available with our salon services. If you would like to schedule an appointment with one of our great stylists, please give us a call. We also cater to walk-ins.

Sharper Image Hair Design LTD opened January 7, 2014, and we haven't looked back! Our team continues to grow and we couldn't be more proud of the salon we have become. We are a family-friendly salon that thrives on educating ourselves to better educate our clients. We are a community-minded salon which to us means, "We are a part of Red Deer; therefore, we need to be a part of Red Deer."

We participate in community events and have held our own events. We are creating a great relationship with the local MC College here in town where we enjoy having work experience students in to help give them an idea of what salon life is all about.

Meet Our Team

I have been a stylist since 2002. So hard to believe where time has gone and how much the industry has changed and how it as changed me as a person. But the one thing that hasn't changed is the reason why I do hair: Because I love it!!

I love everything about hair styling. The personal relationships you make, along with making people feel beautiful. You get to see them on their best and worst days, and you get to help them through that.

To many it’s "JUST a haircut" or "I'm JUST a hairdresser" but it’s not JUST anything. When it’s your passion, it’s everything to you. When clients trust you with their hair for a special event or when they come in to get their hair shaved off due to illness, it is something I hold very dear to my heart.

I have been a salon owner since opening Sharper Image in January 2014 and it has been the best decision of my life.

Yes it has many challenges, but without challenges we do not grow, and growth is extremely import to me. Without struggle, how can we truly appreciate our accomplishments?

For me the most rewarding feeling is standing back in the salon and just watching the beehive of creativity and passion that is taking place in the salon. Seeing the smiles on clients faces when they leave and the excitement on my staff's face when they gave the client the exact service they had asked for. It is a beautiful moment.

Over the years of being a stylist I have worked mainly with apprentices and they are near and dear to my heart. They are the future of this industry and therefore I wanted to get more involved with the Apprenticeship training side of the industry. 

I recently was able to get a position as a community member which includes me being a marker of the practical exam as Apprentices are moving towards being a Journeyman hair stylist. I am really enjoying this new position I have taken on.

With 15 years in the hair industry — Over 10 of those at Sharper Image — I’ve learned that doing hair is about so much more than just the cut or color. It’s about connection. I love getting to know my clients, hearing their stories, and creating a space where they feel comfortable, confident, and cared for.

My path into hair started in the most unexpected way—braiding my horse’s mane! What began as a simple hobby turned into a true passion during high school, when I discovered cosmetology and never looked back.

I’m a Wella Colour Expert certified stylist, and I geek out over the chemistry and artistry behind hair color. But in recent years, my biggest growth has come from my love for curls. Learning to accept and embrace my own curly hair has been such a journey, and it’s made me even more passionate about helping others do the same. There’s nothing better than showing someone how to fall in love with their natural texture.

I’m also deeply committed to my team. Supporting, sharing knowledge, and growing together have become some of the most rewarding parts of my career.

For me, hair isn’t just about style—it’s about connection, confidence, and community.

My hairstyling journey began with one simple goal — to help people look and feel amazing. With over 8 years behind the chair, I’ve learned that the best hairstyles don’t just turn heads — they boost confidence and let your personality shine. My mission? To make sure every client leaves my chair feeling like the best version of themselves.

I’m proud to be a Wella Color Expert, having completed their most advanced certification — a deep dive into hair and scalp analysis, color formulation, and precision application. I’ve also earned my Cut Craft Certification, where I honed techniques tailored to every face shape and hair texture.

Curly, coily, or wavy — I love working with textured hair! Helping clients embrace their natural curls and see their true texture come to life is one of my favorite parts of the job. I’m also a Certified Extension Specialist, giving clients endless ways to create the look they’ve always dreamed of.

Most recently, I stepped into a new adventure as an Educator for Neuma, a product line I’m thrilled to represent. Teaching and inspiring other stylists has added a whole new layer of joy to my career.
Every day in the salon reminds me why I love what I do — the laughs, the creativity, and the amazing people I get to connect with. I’m so grateful to be part of this vibrant, supportive team, and I can’t wait to welcome you into our salon family.

2025 has been a huge growth year for me — I’ve completed two new extension certifications (Babe + Pony), and I’m so excited to fill my chair with more extension transformations! I’ve also completely fallen in love with doing brunettes and redheads (as a brunette myself, they have my heart), and I’d love to see even more of those gorgeous tones in my chair going into 2026.

I’ve been part of the hair industry since the summer of 2012.

Fun fact: I worked strictly as a barber for a few years. I’m thrilled to be part of the Sharper Image Hair Design team. This experience has been transformative, helping me grow as a stylist in the most positive ways.

One of my favorite aspects of my work is witnessing makeovers that help people go from unconfident to confident—it’s truly the best feeling. I also love tackling big-change, extensions and men’s cuts because the right haircut and beard trim can be life-changing.

While perms may sound old-fashioned to some, I believe they can create the curly hair of your dreams. I’m passionate about experimenting with colors and staying on top of new trends. With your trust, we can achieve the color and style you’ve always envisioned!

I often hear, “Oh, you just do hair. Don’t you want a real career?” This is my real career. Behind the chair, I’ve built lasting friendships and shared in some of life’s most precious moments—engagements, weddings, babies, and even farewells. If there’s one person you can always rely on, it’s your stylist.

While I help bring out the best version of you, I also love learning about you—your passions, family life, or even fun random facts. I’ve learned just as much from my clients as they’ve learned from me.

When I’m not in the salon, you’ll find me with my family. My life is very family-oriented, and we love spending time outdoors—camping, quadding, and enjoying nature. I still have my tomboy roots! I also enjoy cooking (including using a smoker), but baking? Let’s just say it’s not my strong suit.

I can’t wait to see you in my chair and help make all your hair dreams come true. Let’s create something beautiful together!

You may have seen me around the salon over the past few years. Whether you’re a familiar face or visiting for the first time, I genuinely love welcoming everyone into my chair!

With over a decade of experience, I’ve invested time in a variety of courses that keep me at the forefront of hairdressing. My certifications include Cut Craft, Babe Extensions, Curly Hair Expertise, Body Waxing, Ear and Nose Piercing, and Makeup Artistry. I’ve also participated in multiple classes focusing on advanced coloring techniques.

Beyond my passion for hair, I find inspiration in the great outdoors, often spending time with my kids and animals. This balance enriches my creativity and fuels my approach to hairdressing, allowing me to bring a calm and relaxed energy to our sessions.

I’ve been a hairstylist since 2022, and every moment of this journey has been incredibly rewarding. My greatest inspiration for pursuing this career has always been my grandmother, who instilled in me a passion for uplifting others and staying true to myself.

What I love most about hairstyling is the ability to make a positive impact in people’s lives—helping them feel confident, beautiful, and authentically themselves. I’m dedicated to continually expanding my skills and knowledge so I can provide the highest level of care and creativity for each of my guests.

In the past few months, I’ve completed an intensive four-day cutting class, several advanced color application workshops, and an in-depth scalp care training. I’m also proud to be fully certified in Babe hair extensions, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing in this ever-evolving industry.

Whether it’s full back-to-back foils, specialty perm wraps, or bold pixie cuts, I truly enjoy all aspects of hairstyling. I love exploring new colors and techniques, staying up to date with the latest trends to ensure every client leaves my chair feeling refreshed and confident.

Outside the salon, I love spending time with my husband and our pets. We enjoy camping, quadding, and finding new adventures to share together. When we’re not outdoors, you can usually find me curled up with a good book.

I love doing bold layered haircuts and alternative styles. I aim for my clients to leave feeling more like themselves and for my chair to be a place of comfort. A salon can be an overwhelming place and it's my goal to give people a calm environment that you can look forward to being apart of.

I completed cosmetology school and started my apprenticeship at Sharper Image in the fall of 2025. Being a hairdresser means giving people their confidence and that's where I find my passion.

When not in the salon I am quite the home body, spending a majority of my time playing video games, cooking, and cleaning. I've often said that if I wasn't a hairdresser I would be a housekeeper as cleaning and organizing are some of my favorite ways to spend my time.
